Nars Diamond Life

I've been stalking this nail polish online. I thought it was way too metallic on all the pictures online but when I finally swatched it in person, it was love at first sight lol. The metallic-ness of it isn't too abrasive, it's actually subtle in a way(in person), especially with my skin tone. It was really hard to get the accurate color on camera, but then again I am using my iPhone. I also only used one coat! This is the first Nars nail polish I've tried and I definitely will be going back for more.
This retails for $17 on the Nars website. At Nordstrom it is $18.

Today was a Fairytale

I went a little nail polish crazy and came up with this

I topped them all with Deborah Lippmann's Today Was a Fairytale. I love the combination on Butter London Bossy Boots and Nars Diamond Life.

Here it is in indoor lighting.
I will swatch Nars Diamond Life next and give my review.

Review: La Roche-Posay Anthelios 50 Mineral Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid

In my mission to find a good facial sunscreen I read up on a lot of reviews and decided to try the La Roche-Posay Anthelios 50 Mineral Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid. It was the 2011 Allure Best of Beauty award winner for facial sunscreen. Here is some information on La Roche-Posay from there website:
A Powerful Dermatological Ingredient
The unique selenium-rich Thermal Spring Water at the heart of a small village in central France called La Roche Posay flows through La Roche-Posays skincare formulas.

La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water is the result of rainwater flowing over vast expanses of limestone rocks, natural reserves of the element selenium, and deep water over 20,000 years old, flowing through the deep sands of the Cenomanian period. Of the highest purity, and with an almost neutral pH, La Roche-Posay thermal spring water is protected from all pollution and not treated in any way until safely packaged.

The complexity and rarity of La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water lie in both the stability of its ingredients, which maintains its high selenium content and the physiological balance of the skin.
Selenium, a powerful anti-oxidant protects cells from oxidative stress (one of the causes of skin aging) and plays a fundamental role in cellular preservation. It is used to treat numerous skin problems.
I have read that you should use a sunscreen that offers a broad spectrum uva/uvb protection. And the active ingredient in this sunscreen is titanium dioxide which offers both uva and uvb protection. Because titanium dioxide is not chemical rather a physical sunblocker of uva/uvb it is good for sensitive skin. Such as mine!

All I'm looking for in a facial sunscreen is that it should be light, non-greasy, and non-whitening. This sunscreen is advertised as

  • High UVA protection & SPF 50 for outdoor use
  • Broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection
  • Photostable, long-lasting protection
  • Light, satin finish
  • Non-comedogenic
  • Fragrance-free, PABA-free
  • Safe for Sensitive skin
  • Paraban-free
  • Water resistant
  • ...all of which are quite true from what I've experienced so far. But the main CON and reason I would probably not buy this sunscreen again is that it leaves the scariest white cast on my face. Lol. I look like a vampire. No matter how much you blend in it will leave you looking white in the face. It is a very light liquid and leaves a semi-matte finish, I think it would be a great primer. I suppose if you were fair skinned, like really fair skinned, the white wouldn't show so much but I have a medium skin tone. My shade is a 127 in Make Up For Ever HD foundation. Which is actually a light-medium complexion.

This product retails for $32.95 on the La Roche-Posay website and I believe I've spotted them at local CVS's, but you can find this also on Amazon for $26 + free shipping.

Overall, I would love this product if it weren't for the white face I get. Lol.

    Las Vegas de Chanel

Yay! A new collection from Chanel. I heard this collection will solely be located at the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas and a few Los Angeles boutiques..one of the reasons I love living in LA. It consists of four gorgeous and shiny products:

Lucky Stripes - four shades of sand & bronze to be worn on the eyes, face or cheekbones
Rouge Coco Shine in Brilliant - a sheer golden lipstick
Le Crayon Levres Vegas Gold - a gold lip pencil
Le Vernis in Gold Fingers - a semi-sheer golden nail laquer

I myself am highly interested in Lucky Stripes and Rouge Coco Shine.

    Lucky Stripes - $92

Rouge Coco Shine Brilliant - $32

    A lil' trip to LUSH

My bf and I were at the mall today and I finally overcame my curiosity and went inside Lush. I never tried going into a Lush store before because I knew I would probably want to buy everything inside, but now I have...and well yes, I would like to buy everything inside!

First of all I love that all of Lush's products are from fresh organic fruit and vegetables. They make everything  fresh by hand using little or no preservative or packaging, using only vegetarian ingredients, and tell you when they were made. They also don't do any animal testing and ethically source their ingredients. So cool right?!

But you know what all that means right? Yes, it means they're pricey. But that is usually the case with any high quality made product. Well, let's take a look at what I bought.

    2012 Goals

I don't think I've ever completely carried out a new years resolution. I always say this will be the year where I save money. Lol. That never happens. BUT this year will be different. I am going to challenge myself this year damnit! My goals will be accomplished. I'm sure I will be met with lots tears, exhaustion, frustration, craziness etc. But it's all in the name of HAPPINESS. And probably satisfaction too. Let's begin!

    1. Be Healthy!

This woman embodies what I want to be. I guess just the jumping and frolicking at the beach part. But she represents health = happiness. I am going to do so by eating more healthy and not succumb to my vices such as drinking and smoking.

    2. Get a 6 Pack!

I know you might think this is a little too defined but I've always wondered if I could pull off a 6 pack. I'm not gonna go body builder on ya, just tight and right.

    3. Be more organized!

More organization = more efficient = faster results

    4. Be a part of the marathon club.

I've been running probably a total of 10-15 miles a week with my workout buddies for the past 4 months so our goal this year is to enter a marathon. We're most excited about a zombie 5k obstacle course on October 20 in San Diego! Yah lets do it!

    and lastly....

    5. Become a better blogger.

Like I said in my first post, this is the year to try things. Things that I've always wanted to do but didn't put enough effort into. Wish me luck!

    What's On My Face

I wasn't sure if I should post beauty looks because mind you I am most certainly not a makeup artist, just an enthusiast. But I guess I just wanted to show my daily look. I am not a heavy eyeshadow user as I always feel like I wear too much makeup with what I typically wear. But here I did a subdued eyeshadow look. I also almost always, like 99.999% of the time wear a cat eyeliner. And I love blush! Like love it gotta have it. Anywhoo, let's just continue to my look...

    Want, Need, Must Have!

Here are some must have pieces from the Spring 2012 lines.

    Vanity Envy

I've always had an attraction for makeup, I wasn't a big makeup user in high school or even the beginning of college but I admired it from a distance. I do wish I had the sense to use an eyebrow pencil in high school. lol. What I did tend to wear was maybe a little foundation, mascara, and a lined light-medium cat eye. But over the years I've learned what looks best on me. I've also collected a bit of makeup along the way. These days I've been heavily influenced by beauty bloggers to try luxury cosmetic brands such as chanel, dior, ysl, etc. I guess once you go chanel you never go back! (i couldn't find a word that rhymed with chanel in that context lol) I'm hoping one day I'll build myself a beauty closet! (ie. coco rocha) I store my makeup on my dressing table and a few drawers. I really would love a beautiful vanity table like this mirrored one below to store and display all my makeup and fragrances. But for the mean time here are some pretty images of vanities. They just epitomize being a girl, imo.

    Happy New Year Folks!

This is my inaugural post for a new undertaking under a new year! Phew... I have been quietly planning and contemplating about having a blog but have procrastinated it for so long. But alas this is a new year and I truly believe this is THE year to try new things! This blog is probably going to consist of the three main things I love the most: food, cosmetics, and most recently fitness/nutrition.

So i'll first begin with a post about foundation. I have recently have been obsessed with finding the perfect foundation. For some reason I cannot find the perfect match for my skin! I'm not sure if I'm picking the wrong complexion color with the wrong undertone. But I'm pretty sure I have a yellow undertone. I used the vein test, where if your veins are green you have a warm undertone which leans toward yellow or blue veins which means you cool undertones which leans towards pink. But there are neutral undertones which just confuses me even more because neutral undertones are supposed to look good with both silver and gold, which is another test I used. PHEW! Wow, I know. If your exhausted by that, I'm 10x more.

Anywhoo, I recently tried the Givenchy Photo'Perfexion in 7 Perfect Gold. This foundation has a SPF of 20 and the 7 Perfect Gold is for medium olive complexions with neutral undertones. This is a liquid foundation and is very creamy.

PROS: I tend to like more medium to full coverage foundations so this was right up that alley. I was reading some reviews that labeled this foundation light but in my opinion it was more so a medium coverage that was build-able to a full coverage. The consistency was smooth and applied well to my face with a foundation brush. I didn't use a primer but the foundation lasted for a good 6 hours without any fading. It would have probably lasted longer if I hadn't wash it off to go to bed. My skin is currently super flaky because of winter. More so this winter for some reason. But this foundation did not cake. It actually gave my skin a very nice glow and no flakes to be seen. The foundation also had a wonderful fragrance that wasn't too overpowering.
CONS: The hydrating factor of this foundation was great, but I think if a person with oily skin would use this foundation it would definitely give them a unwanted shine. My forehead got a bit too shiny after a while. But I welcomed it because I'm desperate for some glowing skin. lol. Hey my skin is crazy dry right now.

The 7 Perfect Gold color was actually a bit too dark for me. It gave tan look, which I don't really want right now. I'm currently going for a vampire look, meaning I would like to have the lightest skin possible for my skin type. I'm a filipina and am probably a standard medium color. Not too light and not too dark. I'm probably going to try the 106 Perfect Pecan which is for medium olive complexions with yellow undertones. I was originally supposed to try the 106, but they(sephora) had run out.
