By Terry Ombre Blackstar Blond Opal

This is one of those products that I probably would've never been interested in if not for someone mentioning them in a youtube video. But once I heard 'creamy' 'long-lasting' I needed to get my hands on one. And I don't really own too many cream eyeshadows, especially stick forms.
I have to attest that this By Terry's Ombre Blackstar cream eyeshadow in Blond Opal is extremely creamy. With the high price tag I certainly hope it would exceed expectations, and it sure did. Blond opal is a light champagne cream color with a pearlescent finish. It's pigmentation is at a medium opacity but the finish is just so gorgeous even just used on its own. I love shadows that let you do an easy one shadow look.
I have tested this shadow stick with and without a primer and I would say it works 75% without a primer. I might of had an off day with super oily lids when it creased on me. This shadow paired with a black cat-eye liner is the perfect 'classic' eye look. It lends a very sophisticated look and the whole application is just a breeze. I am looking around for other eyeshadow sticks and hoping to find other great colors. I would love to also try Misty Rock, Bronze Moon and Paradise Island. These sticks are on the pricier side at $43, but imo well worth it.

Giorgio Armani Rouge Ecstasy Diva 503

Giorgio Armani should definitely take pride on how gorgeous their packaging is. They are pinterest worthy and just can't take a bad picture. The red packaging for the Rouge Ecstasy lipsticks are beautifully eye catching. No doubt about it, you can sense the luxury that embodies one of these babies.
The lipstick formula wears quite comfortable. It applies opaque and feels hydrating on the lips. Diva is a berry toned red. It can wear for a at least 4 hours before the opacity leaves a beautiful stain. If you want longer wear, I would suggest using a lipliner first.

a bit of Vanity

Just like the "What's in my bag?" youtube videos and all of the Into The Gloss's Top Shelf blogposts, I can't help but be curious to know what beauty products other girls are using. I going to try and start and hopefully continue a series of weekly posts of some enviable/beautiful vanity's as a dose of inspiration.

Dr. Dennis Gross Extra Strength Alpha Beta Face Peel

The words 'face peel' have never appealed to me. I always think of that episode with Samantha in Sex & the City. I'm also not one to really fuss around with skincare and am usually quite minimalistic towards my approach. But in the recent months-year, my skin has wreaked havoc on me, my self esteem and emotions. Before all this my skin was at, for a long time, a very happy state of 'clear' with a few hormonal bumps here and there. Normal skin, how I miss the days. Then bumps started to appear, not acne bumps but textured flesh colored bumps. Then dryness! Severe and the tight type of dryness. It became unbearable to look at and sadly I couldn't even mask all of this with makeup because that's essentially what I looked like I was doing, putting a mask on my face. Makeup just accentuated the dry patches and bumpy texture.
I then knew I had to fix my cleansing routine and tried a variety of face washes/moisturizers/exfoliators. Some worked, then stopped working. I usually get the initial day 1 and day 2 improvement. But afterwards downhill all over again. I even tried the Clarisonic, but my skin could not get along with it. Then after much research and last resort mentality I decided to go for the big guns. I had read and researched the results of microdermabrasion and face peels and asked myself, why not? I was scared to go for a full clinical procedure so I looked around for a milder alternative.
I had found Dr. Dennis Gross's products on many skincare best seller lists. And the Alpha Beta Face Peels seemed like a good option. I read a whole lot of reviews and took the plunge and bought myself a a starter pack of 10 at my local Nordstroms. I went ahead and used the pack for 10 straight days and found that my skin improved 10 folds. My complexion became much more clear and glowing. The texture started to improve and soon much of the flesh colored bumps began to disappear.
Although these results were exactly what I was looking for I didn't want to bring my hopes up because of the usual day 1 and day 2 improvements, and then downhill. So in order to see if this was the real deal, I decided to invest in the 30 day regimen the brand recommends.
And thank the stars this was not a fluke. My face really seems to have been improved by this product. I peeled for basically the whole month, but I could tell the texture was getting a lot better. I concluded that the problem with my skin was congestion. It was one of the scenarios that you've heard time and time again on how 'one day i just woke up and it was there'. Unfortunately, that isn't a urban myth and shit really goes down like that. My skin really needed a good exfoliation. I just needed to find the right type of exfoliation.
As far as the product's concerned, some of the active ingredients include glycolic acid, lactic acid, mandelic acid, salicylic acid, citric acid, and retinol. There are two pads that you use every session, Step 1 and Step 2. And the instructions tell you to wait 2 minutes between each Step(pad), which I completely agree with because somehow the product works so much better when you do. I won't say this product has cured my skin, but it has definitely helped maintain a happy medium until I find something better. Which is what I'm obsessively doing nowadays.
If you're at your wits end and have dry/sensitive skin I would say give this a try.

Shoe Savor: Zara Fall 2013

With every new season Zara does not fail with their new selections. If you wanted to save that money, make sure you don't look at anything beginning every season.
Here are some shoes I have fallen in love with:

Part 2: Allure's 50 Beauty Products to Buy Before You Die

Here is the rest of the list...

25. By Terry Baume de Rose SPF 15
I think this is probably the most expensive lip balm I've heard of at $59. But who's to say that I would never fork up the money for this.
26. Urban Decay Naked Palette
I'm probably one of the very few to not own this palette. But I couldn't justify another neutral palette to my stash.
27.  Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk
I believe I got a sample of this foundation but didn't get the right shade. I guess maybe I should try again.
28. Kevin Aucoin Eyelash Curler
I've had my trusty Shu Uemura eyelash curler for probably over 10 years now. I'm gonna ride or die with nothin' else.
29. CND Shellac
I have a confession, I've never had shellac! I've many great things and am now wondering why the heck I haven't tried it yet.
30. OPI Lincoln Park After Dark
One of my first dark, vampy shades that I fell in love with. I even went through a second bottle because I loved it so much, and that's quite rare considering how many nail polishes I own.
31. SK-II Signs Eye Mask
I actually tried this for the first time this past Friday at my local newly opened Nordstrom's. The third counter within the US, within Nordstrom (very exciting). I'm a fan of eye masks, and I wouldn't be opposed to using for a eye-pick-me-up. It's quite pricey but I saw the hydrating and glowing results as promised.
32. Clinique 7 Day Scrub Cream Rinse-Off Formula ✔
I have dabbled a bit with this scrub, but ultimately concluded it was too harsh for my skin.
33. Rodin Olio Lusso Luxury Face Oil
I have yet to try this infamous oil, I do like the brands hair oil and am in love with their lip balm.
34. Scott Barnes Body Bling
I seriously need to try this. I would love to get the Jlo glow.
35. Kiehl's Creme de Corps
A good body lotion, but prefer others.
36. Fresh Brown Sugar Body Polish
I have tried only the lip balm from this brand, I suppose I would be interested to try this too.
37. Fracas
A dose of tuberose... sounds lovely! I haven't actually encountered this fragrance in person and would love a sniff.
38. Tigi Bed Head Superstar Queen For A Day Thickening Spray
Wow, that's a mouthful. Hasn't been on my radar. I guess I would try if I got it in a sample.
39. Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint
I received a sample of this in a beauty box and liked the texture but did have the right color match. Do they sell this at Sephora?
40. Tweezerman Slant Tweezer
Love the Tweezerman tools. I have about 2-3 lying around the house somewhere.
41. Aveeno Ultra Calming Foaming Cleanser
I'm really picky about cleansers and choose to stick to what's working.
42. Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips
I really only tried this once and it was a bit of a disaster. But my clumsiness was to blame for it, not the product. Great for a quick design on ones nails.
43. Chanel Le Crayon Sourcils Precision Brow Definer
One of my favorite brow pencils. It never dries out and always stays put.
44. Elure Advanced Skin Lightening Lotion
Brightening/whitening products are something I've been on the fence trying. I'm always afraid I'll be allergic and then get white patches all over my face.
45. Olay Complete All Day UV Moisturizer SPF 15
Another product I used to use religiously but have found better alternatives that work for my skin.
46. St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse
I'm pretty tan naturally so I don't really feel the need to use self tan.
47. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Black Cherry
I'm not sure if I've ever had this particular lipstick but I've definitely worn a brown-red lipstick back in the day.
48. Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream SPF 15
Not really something on my radar, but would be willing to try.
49. Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer
Waiting to finish one of my other concealers to buy this.
50. Nars Multiple in Copacabana
Sadly, I don't own any Nars multiples. Just another product to put on my to buy list.

It looks like I've tried/bought about 1/3 of this list. I guess I have a some ways to go. Though, there are only a few things on this list that I am actually interested in trying in the future. But I have to agree that this is a good list. All of these products have a significant following to warrant them to be on it. There are products that I would've thought should be be on this list such as Bioderma or a Tom Ford Lipstick.  I understand that these products are not meant to be a what you should buy, but more like what you should try.

I'd like to make my own list of products to try before you die. But for food! Maybe I'll try and do that in the near future.

Part 1: Allure's 50 Beauty Products to Buy Before You Die

I love a good list. I suppose I love any type of lists, but relating to beauty, basically a little novela as far as I'm concerned. I came upon Allure's 50 Beauty Products to Buy Before You Die on the Yahoo! front page and I thought to myself why do I always click on these type of articles. I already have a good basis on what I do and don't like. And it's not like this list is all defining or should be taken to heart, because its not like everyone needs to try self tanner in their lifetime. But as the beauty junkie I am I just want more and I love this kind of s#*! So I'm just going to go through this list and see how much I've tried so far. Join me will yah!

1. Chanel N°5
My first memory of perfume.
2. L'oreal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray
Have it, bought it because of the hype. No complaints, so I guess it does live it up to the hype.
3. La Mer Creme De La Mer
Haven't wanted to invest in a $155 per oz cream yet. But I can't predict the future.
4. Nars Blush in Orgasm
Like it, don't love it.
5. Dove White Beauty Bar
I use to wash my face with this. Moved on to more expensive alternatives. Silly me.
6. Aquaphor Advanced Therapy Healing Ointment
Never been on my radar to try.
7. Crest 3D White Professional Effects Whitestrips
This product works but made my teeth super sensitive.
8. YSL Touche Eclat
Been on my list to buy for forevers.
9. Chanel Le Vernis in Black Satin
I would love to have this.
10. Beachwaver by Sarah Potempa
First time hearing about this tool. Will be youtube'ing.
11. Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion
My first 'high end' skincare brand was Clinique and I used this moisturizer for a long time until I moved on to others.
12. MAC Lipstick in Russian Red
One of my first red lipsticks I didn't hate.
13. Beautyblender
Certainly lives up to the hype.
14. Lip Smackers
I don't know any girl/woman who hasn't tried or used one of these in their lifetime. I think watermelon was my favorite.
15. Clarisonic
Unfortunately, my skin does not agree with this. Went through a year of trial and error and all just could not get a happy result.
16. Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha Beta Glow Pads
I do not need to self tan, I was born with one. But I use the Extra Strength Peel in his line which I love!
17. Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant
Hasn't been on my radar, but I do have the hand cream which unfortunately has too much of a rosemary scent for me.
18. Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush
Again, something I haven't really gravitated towards.
19. Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey
I have never heard of this, going to go see what this is all about next time I'm at a Clinique counter.
20. Mason Pearson Hair Brush
Something I've been highly interested in trying, but just haven't gotten around to purchasing.
21. Dior Diorshow Buildable Volume Mascara
I only purchase drugstore mascara because I find they work so well. And I also only use waterproof, so unless they have a waterproof version I would probably never try. The wand looks up my alley though.
22. Guerlain Meteorites Pearls
I would love to own every single one of these, especially all of the limited edition ones. Gorgeous pacakaging. This stuff is fantastic.
23. Nars Lipstick in Schiap
On my list to try.
24. Shu Uemura False Eyelashes in Farfallina
These look gorgeous, and I would love to try but there are no Shu Uemura counters here in the US.

Will continue to Part 2...

Summer Wishlist

Summer Wishlist 2013

I have been coveting these items and have resisted getting my grubby little hands on these items because of my self imposed cosmetics ban. (*gives self high five) But a girl can still dream right? If you hear me makeup gods heed the sound of my cries.

I know I seriously don't need anymore makeup but that's just a little fact I choose to ignore. Anyway, I would love it if say my fairy godmother came by and magically made these items appear on my vanity.

1. Tom Ford Quad in Cocoa Mirage - Matte eyeshadows have been all the rage and I can't get enough of them myself. This one is the creme de la creme of eyeshadow palettes and I have yet to bite the bullet and drop $75 on this beauty.
2. Givenchy Le Rouge Lipsticks - I love the unique and rockstar packaging of these lipsticks. Need, want, must have.
3. Rouge Bunny Rouge Highlighting Liquid in Sea of Showers - I resisted buying the Rihanna Barbados Girl luster drops because I have had this liquid highlighter on the top of my wishlist since forever ever(and btw did anyone else spend the whole day trying to buy something from the Rihanna line on mac.com). I keep skipping over this beauty and buying other things but I seriously need to just focus and finally buy this.
4. Hourglass Femme Rouge Lipstick in Fawn - I swatched this at Space NK and cannot stop thinking about it.
5. Chanel Nail Polish Remover - Ok, this is not available in the US. Umm WHY?!...
6. Chanel Les Beiges Powder - How can you avoid all the rave reviews on this product. Can it be August already?
7. Nars Palette from Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2013 - (not the right image/colors, but same template) I made sure to ask my Nars SA at Nordstroms what they were offering for the Nordstroms Anniversary Sale and she showed me an image of the palette that they will have and I basically said "get me on your presale list". The palette will have two blushes, which I think are Douceur and Deep Throat (but please don't quote me on that). And a quad of shadows in the middle retailing for $59. I cannot wait for this Anniversary sale.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Burt's Bees Soothingly Sensitive Body Lotion

Another long named product I've been loving. A new favorite, Burt's Bees Soothingly Sensitive Aloe & Buttermilk Body Lotion was such a surprise product because a friend had given this to me. I honestly wouldn't ever have thought about purchasing this because it just wasn't on my radar.
My journey with lotions has been a sort of patchy(long spiel ahead). I wasn't really picky with using any type of lotion for most of my life. But a few years ago I had a major allergy/reaction on my skin, especially my hands and feet. It was an excruciating, cant go to sleep kind of allergy. I didn't go to a doctor to get it checked(no insurance/hate going to doctors), but determined that it was because of a certain lotion and/or soap I was using. So I simply changed all of my soap and lotion products and made sure they were all hypo-allerginic and for sensitive skin, and my allergy did go away. I used Vaseline's Intensive Rescue Repairing lotion for a long time because it was hypo-allerginic and unfragranced. I also started using a Dial soap that is hypo-allergenic as well, which is the only soap I use till this day. I no longer use the Vaseline lotion because I'd like to try other products now. So I've been carefully and selectively trying out new lotions. I've come across a few that I've really liked such as Bliss Lemon+Sage Body Butter. Which reminds me that I should do a review on that product...
Burt's Bees Soothingly Sensitive lotion is a very runny lotion. The consistency is very much like buttermilk which was a little odd getting used to because it would seem like I was putting buttermilk all over my body. The smell is very pleasant, musk and aloe. It's pretty enjoyable to slather on and the scent lingers for many hours. I originally wouldn't wear a lotion that is too highly fragranced, but much of the fragrance in this product is natural. Well in the long run it hasn't affected my skin at all since I've been using it.
As with all of Burt's Bees products it is free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates, and petrochemicals. I would definitely purchase this product(I can't say repurchase, considering it was given to me).

Has anyone else tried this?

Kevyn Aucoin Eyeshadow Duo 206

I hear nothing but great things from the Kevyn Aucoin brand. I don't own too many products from the line but was intrigued when I swatched the eyeshadow duos at my local Space NK. They felt extremely soft and buttery. I of course left with one. The Kevyn Aucoin Eyeshadow Duo 206 contains the shades Taupe Shimmer and Blue Black Shimmer.
Taupe shimmer is more of a silver satin/shimmer shade, with a hint of taupe. Blue black shimmer is a deep blue but not too black as the name implies. They are both super pigmented and easily glide on the lids. There is minimal fallout and the looks created with this duo can be quite subtle. I would say the quality is close to the buttery texture of Burberry eyeshadows. I did get a little sticker shock from the $42 price considering Nars duos are $34 and Estee Lauder duos are $32, each of which I think are pretty close in quality.

The Lip Balm Trials : Peter Thomas Roth Lips To Die For

It is taking all of me to not repurchase what has become my favorite lip balm(a little melodramatic I know), the Rodin lip balm. I've written it about here. But I have so many other lip balms to go through so I've told myself to hold off until summer. We'll see how that goes.
Throughout winter I have been using the Peter Thomas Roth Lips To Die For Pink Bombshell Lip Balm, longest name in the world. Not as awesome as Rodin's but it does the job. The texture is quite waxy, almost like pomade. But I've noticed that this texture allows the lip balm to have great staying power. It is a staple for my night routine, I wake up in the morning with the balm still heavily on my lips. As well as feeling plump and moisturized. The scent is of a sweet ripened mango, and as a lover of mangos this is a plus. Just knowing that the concoction of shea butter, avocado oil, aloe, mango butter, and vitamin E, makes my lips feel so nourished.
The balm also has lip color enhancing properties. So when placed on the lips they give off a cooling sensation. I would assume that for women who have a problem with pale lips this would help bring out a little color. I haven't noticed a big difference with my lips, but that's probably because my lips are naturally very pigmented. Overall, I have been nothing but satisfied with this product. I am quite eager to try other Peter Thomas Roth products especially the Instant Mineral Powder

What's On My Nails For Spring

I am relieved but stunned that spring is just around the corner. A whole season has just passed and bam its March. Time flies by too quickly these days.

But hey, that just means I get to pick out a cool new color scheme for Spring nails. So in honor of Spring here are some colors I'll be sportin'.

With only one pastel shade my picks for Spring are a blend of sophisticated and fun. Think business during the day but party at night. Starting with my first two choices are Revlon Enchanting and Essie Splash of Grenadine. Now Revlon's Enchanting is a version of Essie Playdate and Rimmel Wild Orchid. After many attempts of trying to find Essie Playdate I decided to google and find myself a dupe. I found both Revlon's and Rimmel's versions and decided that the Revlon out-shined(literally) Rimmel. Revlon Enchanting has purple/pink microshimmers but is not noticeble on the nail. I just love love love this color, it sits on the line of being a vibrant purple and pastel purple at the same time. I have been wearing it for much of February and suits my skin color very nicely.
Next is Essie Splash of Grenadine and I had worn this color all summer last year and I still cant get enough of it. Just a beautiful pink/purple mixture. Gorgeous on the toes. My most sophistcated picks are OPI I Don't Give a Rotterdam and Essie Mambo. Both are suitable enough for the office but offer a chic element to your outfit. Color Club's Covered in Diamonds is my glitter pick. I have been looking for a holographic glitter for quite some time. I have also been eyeing YSL's Premiere Neige top coat, but cannot find it anywhere. Covered in Diamonds adds an incredible look to any nail color. It can be a little chunky and jagged but the outcome of this polish is too beautiful to pass. Last is my color obsession this past month(as you can see in my past post). I'm loving mint green anything at the moment and on the nails OPI Gargantuan Green Grape is just that accent I'm looking for to tie into my obsession.

Have you tried any of these shades?

Diptyque Sample Sale

I'm a little frustrated that this is happening and I don't live in New York. But if you do and are interested in getting Diptyque on the cheap I heard this was happening.

White Musk

It would be wrong of me to not share one of my most used and loved products that I've only acquired these past few months. It happens to be a fragrance, and even though I have a number of fragrances in my disposal, I have been going back to this particular bottle almost everyday. Thank goodness it isn't expensive and it doesn't even come from a famous fragrance house(not a 'luxury' brand). It is The Body Shop's White Musk.

It is quite unremarkable and simple yet very addicting. I love smells that are powdery, musky, clean. This upholds each of these categories to the tee. It is not so complex and is something I don't even have to think twice when I spray it on, almost bordering onto a body mist imo. I have the eau de toilette version so it's basically a body mist to me anyway. The scent is not strong and does fade but gradually and just slightly lingers on your skin throughout the day. Really the essence of this fragrance is more than the powdery, musky, clean notes but memories of my childhood. I always love when I can link a certain scent to a great memory of my past.

Along with the bottle I use the body lotion along to help keep the scent with me all day. I have already used up the whole bottle of lotion and am more than half way with the fragrance. I will definitely be repurchasing when my bottle runs out.

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse

Dehydrated skin has been a constant problem for me, even during summers. I'm one to slather body lotion on my whole body every time I get out of the shower. Now it's become more of an ocd issue, but that's a whole other topic. I have used oils such as monoi oil, jojoba oil, argan oil, coconut oil, olive oil etc and loved each one for their scents and hydrating effects(though jojoba does not have scent imo).
Enter Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse into my arsenal of oils. I've heard so many great things about this oil, and as one of the best selling products for Nuxe I was highly coveting it. It's also been on my wish list for so long I finally bit the bullet and purchased it on Beauty Sage, a fantastic natural/organic centric beauty store. The smell is so addicting, it reminds me of summer days on the beach(seriously, not even trying to be poetic) and floral hints of orange blossom and magnolias. I am excited to use this during the summer. Hopefully, it'll last me till then because I've been using it twice a day on my skin and nails.

The oil contains a mixture of six types of oils borage, st. john's wort, sweet almond, camelia, hazelnut, and macadamia. It also contains vitamin E, and anti oxidant, and no preservatives. It easily absorbs into my skin and leaves it feeling moisturized for a good few hours. Like I mentioned I've been using it on my skin, hands and nails. I believe you can also use this for you hair, but since my hair is naturally oily the use of this on my hair leaves it more oilier.
It's safe to say that I really like this oil, I've used it for the past month and have found it really enjoyable to use. I also want to mention that I really appreciate the spray cap because there is nothing more messier and costing than pouring oil into your palms. I am a definite fan and am planning to get my hands on the Parfum and OR when I get a chance.

All Things Minty

All of a sudden I've found myself online searching for mint green everything and have fallen in love with a few items. I'm desperately coveting all of these!

Essie 'Mambo'

It's been a while....

While I have been MIA for four months I have missed posting. To be quite honest, I placed myself on a makeup/beauty product ban because I have way too much makeup that I could possibly need. But old habits die hard and let's just say that didn't last too long.

So let's try this again.
Here goes. =P

I have more than fallen deep for nail polish during 2012. I had barely a box of 10-20 nail polishes during the beginning of 2012, and that quickly reached to over 80+ by the end of that year. It was really the year of nail polish for me.

I purchased Essie Mambo pretty early on during my polish craze. I probably purchased this way before I really got into brights and glitters. It is a beautiful nude color and almost foundation looking on the nails. It has a bit of gold micro-shimmer in the bottle but is undetectable once on your nails. I had been wearing so many brights these past few months that I wanted to give my 'nail look' a little break for something a little tame. I feel like a classy Hampton's housewife with this color. lol

I've really come to like this color and I think it suits my medium tan coloring pretty nicely. The formula is a bit streaky so I would be careful and patient when applying this. Otherwise, a really lovely nail polish color.

Here is on my nails.
